Belief or Unbelief?

Belief or Unbelief?

What stops you from moving forward?  Both!

What stops you or your relationships from being better?  Both!

What stops you from getting a new position?  Both!

What stops you from changing an emotional, mental, physical or even spiritual state in which you live?  Both!

How can that be, you ask?

Well, this past week I had a conversation with someone I’ll call Sam.  Sam has a situation that needs to be changed.  I see an answer.  He sees a problem.

I see and believe that if he would look at what he does have and work with what he has, he could make some different decisions which would put him in a different place.  I see and believe that from a different perspective, and an open mind to the many ways and strategies in which the end result can be obtained, he would be in a different place.

However, he doesn’t believe that, (unbelief) so he stays where he is.  Years later, he remains where he is with the same problems.  His “belief” that he doesn’t have to change, that he doesn’t have to consider other options, that doing the same thing will somehow bring different results stops him from moving forward.

Therefore, both his belief and his unbelief are holding him back.

If your body is in need of sleep, rest, restoration, vitamins or help in some way shape or form, but you don’t believe you have to do anything, then you won’t follow through on the very thing that will help you be healthy.  Your unbelief will stop you (more than your body) from living to the fullest.  Your belief that you can’t get better will become your reality.

The belief that I can eat all the cake, cookies and sweets I like in a day and lose weight is going to stop me from losing weight.

Not believing (unbelief) that I need to ask for help, make a different decision, do research, find a new strategy, look for a new perspective (or the other side of the coin so-to-speak) can stop me and hold me back.

Believing that someone else is responsible for everything going wrong in my life can also hold me back or stop me from what would work better for me, help me, or see change in my life and situations.

With Sam, the answers are there….right there in front of him right now.  Because of his beliefs and his unbeliefs, he lives right beside the answers but he cannot see them, receive them or have them.  He sees his problem.  I see his answers.

If you believe you can be more, accomplish more or reach more in your life, that belief itself can start to move you forward to the decisions, thoughts and actions needed to attain that.

If you don’t believe you can be more, accomplish more or reach more in your life, then that unbelief will cause you to settle for less from yourself and others.

If you believe there are answers to your problems and answers to your prayers, then you will continue to search and seek until you find.

If you don’t believe there are answers, you will compromise and accept what is, instead of what could be.

What beliefs stop you?  What answers are you looking for?  Are they right beside you too, but in a different way, shape, form, color, wrapping, person, place or thing than what you believe or are expecting?

With your eyes, look.  With your ears, hear.  With your mouth, ask or pray.  With your heart and spirit, understand and seek wisdom.
