JOY THERAPY

What do you think of when you think of the word therapy?

Physiotherapy, psychotherapy, family therapy….Ideally, therapy is a process towards progress. To get to a state and place that you are not presently in.

I think there is such a thing as “Joy Therapy”!

  • It is the process that will help you experience joy where you don’t have joy now.
  • It is the process of eliminating the lies, beliefs and thinking that prevents you from experiencing joy.
  • It is the process of discovering where joy is or where it is hidden.
  • It is seeing joy where you once saw other things.
  • It is pursuing and seeking joy as if on a treasure hunt in the middle of circumstances or situations.
  • It is feeling joy where there was depression, hopelessness or despair before.
  • It is making room for joy in your life, your mind, your relationship and your future, knowing it is an option.

What is Joy? It’s being able to have peace, to see the brighter side – or at least polish the dull side of things. It may involve the ability to separate yourself from your thoughts, problems, issues or circumstance, rather than be consumed or driven by them.

What would it take for you to pursue joy and abandon destructive patterns and pursuits? What holds you back?

Sometimes joy comes from the simplest of things. I have a friend who is just delighted when she sees the first buds coming on the tree and the fresh smells of spring. I loved working with some of the mentally challenged young people as they found joy in so many little things – an ice cream cone, having a favorite meal or coloring. They were thankful and appreciative and they brought me joy in turn.

Joy is an inside job. It comes from your perspective, choices and what you focus on or listen too. God’s Word says the Joy of the Lord is my strength. Being in relationship with God can bring us joy and strength because it’s based on something stronger than the natural which shifts and changes and is often beyond our control. It is my prayer today that you find joy in the gift of life today! Discover Joy!
