LIFE’S JOURNEY – Are We There Yet?
How many times have you thought about doing something, going somewhere or buying something major?
You start out with a thought.
You make a decision.
Away you go.
And then……
One day, two days, one week, two weeks go by and you haven’t quite finished it, got there or bought it yet?
You think “How much longer?” “What is it going to take?”
There seems to be this illusion we get that since it seems to be “one” thing that it will only take “one” thing.
One decision, one phone call, one interview, one visit, one conversation, one trip, one thought, one day, one minute, one hour, one month, one year….
A journey, a goal or a project of any sort requires many steps. Some small, some large, but always many.
I’m not sure where we get this illusion from. Did you know it’s going to take a lifetime to live our life? Many steps, many thoughts, many feelings, many attempts (and sometimes mistakes in our trying), many moments, many people, many decisions, many prayers, many resources and/or finances, many places, many adventures, many tears, many memories, many hopes, many dreams.
Perhaps that’s why we need to enjoy the journey on the way to our destination.
This week I decided to enjoy and “live” life in between all the events, appointments and things I had to do. If you feel overwhelmed right now, I invite you to stop and realize that your life consists of more than your present place, experience, job or anything else. Put things into perspective. One aspect of your life is one aspect of your life – not your whole life. While some parts of life’s journey may be frustrating to us for various reasons, stop and consider the rest of your journey.
Enjoy the pleasant places, helpful and cherished people, the good things and blessings in your life. Don’t ignore or disregard the little things that are precious in your life. Spend time with people you value. Stop and enjoy the sunset.
Furthermore, remember to be a blessing along your journey to others. There are always those who can do more, be better and have more than you. BUT, there are also many who can’t do what you do, don’t have what you have and are worse off than you.
Wherever you are today, may you enjoy your journey! Thanks for letting me be part of your journey. As a life coach, if there is any way in which I can help, support and encourage you just leave a comment below so I can be in touch.
