IN THE CORNER…
There it was.
Sitting in the corner.
I’d been there before…had no clue it was there.
It was silent – sitting in the corner.
I said to my cousin – “When did you get that?”
“About 10 years ago,” she said.
“WHAT?!??” I want to hear it!
My cousin sat down at the beautiful little baby grand electric piano (…no, I didn’t know there was such a thing either!)
Melodies of music filled the air!
The room was transformed. The room came to life! I came to life!
We sang together. Song that created joy. Unity. Beauty. Song bubbled up from within us and spilled out to join with music floating out from the notes being played. Beautiful melody. We sang and played to our heart’s content. Then the music stopped.
Only echoes of conversation and contentment would linger in the air as we left the room.
There it sat…in the corner.
So my friend, you too are an instrument in God’s creation. Where is your voice and your presence? Do you sit in the corner? Silent? Or is your voice being heard in the lives around you? Is your life a presence of connection, joy, thankfulness, wisdom, concern, support, growth or some part of God’s majesty, melody and voice in the atmosphere around you? Who is needing your music in their life?
Our music didn’t fill the street – and certainly not the town itself. It did fill our corner of the house, and found it’s way upstairs to serenade my cousin’s husband – although he may not have called it that!
You may not sing for the world or even a nation. But sing your song my friend. Be the instrument that God intended to fill your corner of the world. We don’t all sing the same song. We may not sing all at the same time or in the same way. That’s okay. It takes many notes and many instruments to create the the symphonies of the world. Some say they don’t sing because they are “off-key”. Never mind that. If you don’t sing, it’s a “missed note” in someone’s life.
Let the music of life fill your heart. Join in and sing – not just with your life – but from your very heart. It’s good for us. Sing in nature, sing in the shower, sing in the car. Just sing! Sing a song from your childhood! Sing by being you. Sing from your heart. Be a voice and a presence that adds a wonderful melody into your part of the world today!
Know that I’m applauding you over here in my corner!
