It’s time to go!
It’s time to eat!
It’s time to go to bed!
It’s time to go to work, church, to the game or run errands and buy groceries, Etc. In the case of recent flooding in Alberta, it’s time to evacuate, get moving and get out of there!
Time, time, time. How much of our life revolves around that clock? What about the timing of things and events in life – does it really matter anyway?
One second or less can be the difference between avoiding a crash or lives being taken in a head on collision.
There’s a saying “I just missed that, or I just got through by the skin of my teeth”. Since we don’t have skin on our teeth, it is a way of saying there wasn’t much space, time or chance.
What about all those times you get the thought “I’ll get around to it”? Every day, week or month it keeps coming back to your mind because you haven’t got around to it. I’ll do it later. I’ll do it another day. Then you discover the opportunity is gone!
Timing is crucial in emergency rooms and other places. Timing can be deadly. Timing can be divine. Timing can be the cause for success. Often when it comes to God-things and experiences in our life, timing might make a small difference, an important difference, or all the difference in the world. In experiences when everything seems to be going wrong, sometimes looking back at those experiences we realize it was actually perfect timing for the bigger picture. It’s just we think it should be done by a certain time or in a certain time.
I am learning that when I hear from God through an instruction, direction or insight, the timing is equally critical to the content. We do not know when someone’s life could be depending on the timing of our words or actions. We do not know how effective what we say or do is, because of the timing.
There’s a saying that “everything comes out in the wash”. That means that even what is hidden in the pant pockets will come out of the pockets by the end of the wash. You will see everything by the time the wash cycle ends. You will see the change in the bottom of the wash. You will see shredded Kleenex on every piece of clothing that was in there. You might see a sock is missing. You get the details. Time brings things to pass. Time reveals things. Time is required for growth and change.
