ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE?

Are you someone who says they aren’t having anymore birthdays – or do you love to celebrate?

I love celebrating birthdays in various ways, shapes and forms. Why?

Well, have you ever thought about why we count anything, whether time, years, money, children or anything else?

  • Every time you pay cash for something, you count money. Counting your money doesn’t make you richer or poorer. You count money so you KNOW what you have and don’t find yourself in a predicament, missing money or stuck. In the positive, it allows you to know if you can make that purchase.
  • If you are making dinner for so many people, you may count how many pieces of something you are serving. You will count out the number of plates and cutlery likewise. It doesn’t change what you have. It doesn’t give you more or less. It is so you KNOW you have enough. You know if you have to change, adjust or get more.
  • Before cutting a cake, you may mark and count the portions. It doesn’t make it better, tastier or give you more or less pieces. It is so you KNOW everyone will be able to have a piece.
  • We celebrate and count our birthdays and years. It doesn’t make us younger or older. It’s only a reflection and a celebration of the live we have lived, the days, and the experiences that have added value to our lives. The changes made and seen. The people we have met. The things we have done. The things we have learned. The dreams we have lived. The moments we have shared. The relationships that we treasure. It’s an acknowledgment of all the days and times that otherwise would slip into our history unrecognized and unappreciated for the fact that if nothing else, they have been part of our journey to get us to this place in life today.

Some of you might have just had a birthday. Others of you will either sooner or later, have a birthday this year. When that day gets here, reflect on the day you were born and the beginning of your journey on this earth, CELEBRATE!

Celebrate YOU! Your uniqueness, gifts, dreams and desires. Celebrate where you have come from and that you have made it to here. Celebrate where you are going.

  • Count the many blessings in your life so you KNOW how blessed you are.
  • Count your friends to KNOW that you are valued. To some you might be no one in particular, but for those who have you as a friend, you may mean the world.
  • Count the memories you treasure to KNOW that you have lived life and even made a difference in some way – big or small.

So, celebrate my friends and ENJOY your birthday! You won’t always be here and you won’t always be at this age and stage – so Enjoy!
